NADI TRAFFIC FLOW

There are many unhappy commuters in Nadi because of the change in the traffic flow earlier this year.

Motorists can enter Nadi Town from the Sigatoka end but they cannot do so from the Lautoka end like in the past.

BTL has been told that motorists have to go towards Prince Charles Park just after crossing the bridge on the Lautoka end and make a few rounds to enter the town centre.

The business community and members of the public have expressed their concerns on the one way traffic flow in town and have suggested for a review.

Something for the relevant authority to look into.

PLASTIC LEVY 20 CENTS OR 30 CENT

More reports have emerged of a particular supermarket chain charging customers 30 cents for the plastic bag levy.

BTL reported yesterday about a supermarket in Labasa charging 30 cents plastic bag levy a few days after the announcement of the 2019-2020 National Budget two weeks ago.

Customers were told by the shop’s employees and management that 20 cents was for the company and 10 cents for the Government.

However, the supermarket stopped the 30 cents levy this week and reverted to the 20 cents levy for a plastic bag used to pack groceries.

But, BTL was told on Friday night that a supermarket in Suva which is from the same chain was charging customers 30 cents for a plastic bag.

Maybe time for the relevant authorities to really carry out random checks.
