Swire Shipping Fijian Latui utility Tuidraki Samusamuvodre is chasing a spot in the Jack’s Nadi run on side against Naitasiri in their Farebrother Sullivan Trophy challenge at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, on Saturday.

The Namotomoto, Nadi native told SUNsports last night the he was in Year 5 when he witnessed his home team win the country’s prestigious rugby title.

“That Nadi team in 2008 was coached by Iliesa Tanivula,” he said.

“The following year we lost the Cup to Naitasiri at Prince Charles Park and that was the last time.

“I watched that match that day whilst a kid then but I did not know that today I will be chasing for a spot on the run on team. Nothing came into my mind about rugby that time.”

Historically, the 21-year-old scored a ‘power try’ (9 points) during the Latui’s game against Kagifa Samoa in the Global Rapid Rugby series.

“My first year with Latui was a great one as I learnt a lot. The pace of the game was fast, need to maintain discipline and the structure of the game.”
