Farmer Gored To Death By Bull In Macuata

A farming community at Dreketilailai, Macuata, is in shock after a 51-year-old man died when he was believed to have been gored by a bull yesterday.

Naren Prasad’s brother-in-law Prem Chand said his sister raised the alarm around 6.45am and he went out to see what happened.

“My brother-in-law went to untie the bull early in the morning when the incident happened,” Mr Chand said.

“I ran to him and found him near the tree with a lot of injuries.

“I tried to talk to him, but he didn’t respond. We rushed him to hospital and found out he had died.”

Avneet Prasad said his mother and three siblings were in shock over their father’s sudden death.

“He was a very hardworking sugarcane farmer and knew his work very well,” Avneet said.

‘It was his normal routine to untie the bull and carry out the work in the farm. We don’t know what exactly happened because he was alone outside.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the man died as a result of injuries sustained after he was believed to be gored by a bull at Dreketilailai.

“The post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow as investigations continue,” Ms Naisoro said.
