The Australian PM’s XIII is happy to play the Fijian PM’s XIII at the ANZ Stadium on Friday.

Australian PM XIII coach Mal Meninga made the comment upon arrival at the Nadi International Airport yesterday.

The team features a number of young up and coming NRL stars who will take on Fiji’s top local players.

This is the first time Fiji will host the annual PM’s XIII.

Meninga said they were excited to be involved as they have seen the progress of the Fijian rugby league over the years.

“We all started from somewhere to be part of NRL and that was a great achievement for us,” Meninga said.

“We are excited, the men and the women’s team to be here and be part of this tournament and play again against the Fijian teams. We have seen the progress of the Fijian teams and it has been enormous. We are proud to play and match them.”

Meanwhile, the Australian High Commissioner John Feakes will host the PM’s XIII reception tonight from 6-8pm at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva.

The reception is for the visiting Australian PM’s XIII men’s and women’s teams and their Fijian counterparts.
