For the Kalioni family starting a business is always a family affair. Because it requires a hands on approach from its inception to its daily operations.

Director Kelera Kalioni says opening a new supermarket has always been a family dream.

“My father is a building contractor and now my sisters and their husbands all have businesses.

“It was our own dream to start a supermarket because our family’s dream was to venture into other businesses, so with the supermarket experience that we have, we decided to open this large supermarket.

“We thought that it would take a while but it was just a few months back that we were approached by the church to run this Harvest supermarket so that is why we set up here,” she said.

Mrs Kalioni’s husband, Tale Kalioni, was a former store manager for Morris Hedstrom.

She added, the naming of the supermarket was also inspired by the family.

“We try to blend with other supermarkets so Family Foods was the name that we thought of.

“We chose Family Foods because supermarkets is where families would come together and do their shopping so it is a family thing,” she added.

They invested about $150,000 to have everything under one roof.

Some of the supermarket items were also provided by the Christian Mission Fellowship.

Mrs Kalivoni says Family Foods will target residents from the surrounding areas which are New Town, Kinoya and Caubati.
