Two of the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians stars from the Rugby World Cup, Leone Nakarawa and Semi Radradra, have hit the headlines again.

Nakarawa’s French club Racing 92 voiced their concerns and threatened to sack him since he did not join them after his two-week break.

However, a source close to Nakarawa confirmed to SUNsports that the Mokoisa, Tavuki, Kadavu native had been in contact with certain club officials about his late arrival.

“It’s been sorted out now as talks have been ongoing,” the source indicated.

Meanwhile, Rugby Pass indicated that the threat made on Nakarawa has also tied into concerns with how Pacific Island players were treated in France, as it is a long held view that players from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga were blackmailed into not playing for their country in order to remain with their clubs.

This treatment of the 2018 European player of the year has only fanned those flames.

“The problem for Racing 92 is that, while they may feel within their rights to sack Nakarawa, this would only create a bidding war amongst their biggest rivals for the lock. Very few clubs in Europe would turn down the chance to sign Nakarawa if the opportunity arose, which is why this may just be a hollow threat from the French giants,” stated Rugby Pass.

Radradra to follow Sonny Bill Williams?

Former All Black Sonny Billy Williams has signed a lucrative $15 million deal with Toronto Wolfpack yesterday to return to rugby league.

According to NRL.com, next on the Wolfpack’s list is Flying Fijians star winger, Semi Radradra.

The Somosomo, Taveuni native played for Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League (NRL) in Australia before switching to rugby union.
