The Ministry of Forestry sent a Royal Christmas card to His Royal Highness the Dutch of Sussex, Prince Harry, on Friday.

The card was locally designed by Nemani Lui, a freelance designer.

Minister Osea Naiqamu said they decided to have a Royal Christmas Card, which includes an update of the tree dimensions.

“During Prince Harry’s visit to Fiji last year, he had planted a dakua makadre in Colo-i-Suva. The tree species is an endangered species in Fiji. The Ministry of Forestry made a commitment to HRH Prince Harry that they would update him on how well the tree is growing,” Mr Naiqamu said.

“The Ministry of Forestry decided to have a Royal Christmas Card, specially designed locally by Mr Nemani Lui.”

The card includes an update of the tree dimensions and it reads:

Your Royal Highnesses

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Bula Vinaka!

Upon your royal visit to Fiji last year, you took the time to plant a Dakua tree – an endangered indigenous tree species – at the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park which is part of Her Majesty the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.

In doing so, you have planted hope for the people of Fiji and their future.

It may please you Royal Highnesses to know that the Dakua tree is growing luxuriantly.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji, I wish you a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Yours Sincerely,

Honorable Osea Naiqamu

Ministry of Forestry.
