Pacifica Mall, An International Online Commerce Website To Be Launched Soon

Ajay Nath has returned to Fiji with his son Arnav Nath, following twenty years of running his own businesses in New Zealand.

Ajay is a Fijian, born and schooled in Lautoka and has very close ties to the country through family and friends.

He has worked for UTC, then joined Raffles, moved on to Compuland before finally joining G Lal, heading their IT Department in Lautoka.

He decided that his future lay elsewhere and moved to Auckland to start his own business, involved in different retail opportunities as they arose and expanding both his knowledge of the intricacies of retailing and the growing field of digital marketing, using his IT knowledge as the base.

He was very successful and enjoyed the life in New Zealand but eventually, with his children grown up, the call of home became strong.

The family decided that it was time to come back and contribute something to their homeland and they had an idea that they felt was ready for planting in Fiji.

They had a long history of success and experience in the field of digital marketing in New Zealand and had got in early and grown with the new concept and knew that it would fit well in Fiji.

This is where Ajay decided to enter the market on his return t Fiji.

About the company

The company is called Pacificamall, a Fiji registered business and its role is to link Fijian companies in the manufacturing segment with customers in overseas markets.

It’s a very simple operation really for the local business and aims to take away all the issues usually associated with exporting from Fiji and need expertise.

There are a number of examples of this sort of e-service working in other countries, further convincing Arjay of its viability here.

To get started a Fiji business simply registers with Pacificamall and the company arranges to list their products on the Pacificamall website.

When an overseas customer buys the product, payment is made and a message is sent to the seller to make arrangements to get the product to the Pacificamall office.

Once the goods are inspected and approved, Pacificamall pays the local company directly into their bank account less the commission.

Pacificamall then takes responsibility for packing and shipping the goods to the customer.

The important issue is that Pacificamall becomes responsible for the goods as soon as they accept them from the local seller into their Fiji office, the Fiji manufacturer has no liability or is not exposed to possible loss from any part of the transaction after the goods are delivered and paid for in Fiji.

Today we find that the Fijian businesses are missing out on promoting and selling their product to the global market due to financial constraints, infrastructure issue or simply because they lack the expertise to get into international marketing.

Website development

This is where Pacificamall comes in. The team at Pacificamall spent the last two and a half years developing its website to accommodate all the local Fijian manufacturers to overcome this problem and benefit by reaching out to the global market.

What are the requirements for being listed on Pacificamall?

Firstly you must be a Fiji registered company, operating in Fiji. The goods must be manufactured in Fiji, they cannot be re-exports, and Pacificamall must be satisfied that the quality and production standard is what is expected in world export markets.

Any company registered with Pacificamall must also be fully tax compliant at all times.

Products listed

Pacificamall will list basically any type of product that is Fiji made. Initially, they expect that the majority of their sales will come from fashion, including clothing and footwear, health and beauty products, art and handicraft items, and household products.

They are looking at food items but are not yet ready to take on this market because of the complexity of the laws.

Pacificamall site is ready to register interested companies that are willing to market their products to the Global market.

The website is hosted on the Amazon Web Server (AWS) in Sydney, which brings the security of a world leading host.

Future plans

The company is planning to launch the website to the world by March 2020.

Although everything is now ready to enter the international market, they want to have a significant number of quality listings across a number of categories to ensure that a good choice is given to the international buyers.

What does all this cost the Fijian company? The preparation of the listing on the website is carried by Pacificamall and maintenance of the site to delete redundant material and place new products will be carried out by Pacificamall free of charge.

Pacificamall will take a commission from the sale of the product. No sale, no commission.

If your company is interested in entering the international market, you can contact Pacificamall on ajaynath@pacificamall.com and discuss your specific needs.
