Natuvu Jetty, Vanua Levu.

Natuvu Jetty property owners in Buca Bay, Vanua Levu will be having meetings this week with relevant authorities to discuss decisions regarding its status.

This was revealed by resident clinic Director at The Mission Natuvu Small Creek, Denis Kalbermatter.

Natuvu Jetty property owner is The Mission Natuvu Small Creek, a non-denominational faith-based non-profit organisation.

Dr Kalbermatter, however, declined to answer the questions regarding the meetings.

“I have to ask you for more time to answer because this week I have a meeting with Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF), Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) and District Officer (DO) Tukavesi and I might have a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure,” Dr Kalbermatter responded.

“After these conversations, things may change and I don’t want to give you wrong information.”

On January 1 the Natuvu Jetty has been closed for operations on Saturdays

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Jone Usamate had earlier confirmed that Government was progressing towards looking at two alternative sites in Cakaudrove.

“Government is progressing towards looking at two alternate sites in Cakaudrove. We hope to come up with a new jetty site soon,” Mr Usamate said.

“Government is also trying to see how we can make sure that people can still cross over Natuvu and from Buca Bay area across to Taveuni Island soon.”

The Mission at Natuvu Creek offers an expanding array of medical services, health and wellness education, development of jobs and grass-roots industries, engineering, and assistance with education from pre-kindergarten through high school.
