Police say they are treating as alleged murder the case of a man whose body was found at the old Mobil Service Station at Topline in Lautoka on Sunday.

Fiji Police Force chief of intelligence, investigation and prosecution, Assistant Commissioner Biu Matavou, confirmed this information to the Fiji Sun.

“We are investigating this case along the lines of murder because of the injuries that he sustained,” he said.

“No one is in custody but we are still at the early stages of investigations.”

Hasneel Sharma, whose body was found at the old Mobil Service Station at Topline in Lautoka on Sunday, was laid to rest yesterday.

His close family members, friends and neighbours turned up in numbers to pay their final respects at his Velovelo residence in Lautoka.

Members of the Goodnews Church, who led the funeral service of the 22-year-old, remembered Hasneel through the active role he played in the church.

His mother, Anjina Devi sat silently beside his coffin while tears flowed throughout the service.

His father, Babu Suresh Sharma said it was a sad day for their family because they would be seeing their son for the last time.

“It is a sad day for us, we will always remember Hasneel in our prayers,” he said.

He was buried at the Balawa Cemetery.
