Weather: Warm And Humid With Mostly Sunny Skies In The Day

Weather Situation:

No significant change as moderate southeast trade winds continue to dominate the tropical south-west Pacific.

High pressure centred over sub-tropical waters south of the Cook Islands extends a ridge west to the Tasman Sea and east into the central Pacific beyond the southern islands of French Polynesia.

A tropical disturbance over waters just to the east of American Samoa is forecast to slowly intensify as it drifts south-southeast passing between Niue and the southern Cook Islands.

Weather is expected to remain unsettled over Fiji today with afternoon and evening showers, possibly with thunder.

Forecast for Fiji:

Warm and humid with mostly sunny skies at first today with moderate southeasterly winds and inshore daytime sea breezes about the larger islands.

Some cloud later in the day about most places, but especially over Vanua Levu and Viti Levu with scattered afternoon and evening showers developing, possibly with thunder.

Showers clearing after dark as the sea breeze dies and winds become light overnight.

Weather Outlook:

Warm and humid again tomorrow with fine and sunny weather at first before afternoon and evening thundery showers develop later about the larger islands. Much the same again on Monday and Tuesday as we enjoy some respite from the active monsoon still affecting the atoll islands to the northeast.

The tropical disturbance close to American Samoa poses no threat to Fiji whatsoever but will bring some nasty weather to Samoa today, then to Niue and the Cook Islands later over the weekend.

We will continue to stay alert for renewed tropical development nearer to Fiji toward the end of the month.
