A publication with collections of columns by international trainer and specialist transformation coach, Mayur Kalbag was launched at the Fiji Sun boardroom in Suva on Thursday.

The 36-page Lead-Your-Ship:Achieving Leadership Excellence was printed and published by the Fiji Sun and features weekly columns from the Fiji Sun.

Mr Kalbag has more than 10 years of experience in the field of Leadership Development; Effective Communication Skills; Planning and Organising and Innovation in India, Asia Pacific and Fiji.

Mr Kalbag’s column is published in the Fiji Sun Business Liftout every Saturday.

Fiji Sun Advertising Manager Rachna Lal said the newspaper had enjoyed a long relationship with Mr Kalbag.

“In 2015 when I was chosen to attend a seminar where Mayur was a trainer and thinking it was going to be a typical training session so I had attended,” Ms Lal said.

“Instead I got really inspired by his training. I had come back to the office and discussed with the Publisher Peter Lomas on how the training went and he suggested that we get Mayur on board to be a columnist for our Saturday Business Liftout.

“I approached Mayur on the second day of training and he was a bit reluctant at first but thankfully he agreed.

“We haven’t looked back since that day because every Saturday he has been writing his columns for our Saturday Business Liftout and has built quite a number of followers here in Fiji.”

This, she said, included people in top management positions and directors who actually made copies of his columns to distribute among staff.

“It was late last year when Mayur was in Fiji that we discussed to come up with a booklet of a collection of some of his best columns and that we could publish for our customers.

“Today we have made it a reality and we are launching the book.”

Creating a platform

Mr Kalbag acknowledged Fiji Sun’s publisher and chief executive officer Peter Lomas and Ms Lal for creating a platform to share his thoughts and perspective.

“There’s an English proverb that says that education is not how much we know it’s how well we know,” Mr Kalbag said.

“Through the columns I am able to share specific perspectives on management and leadership without going into too much quantity,” he said.

“Within those 800 words, I am able to share my thoughts and that’s been a great revelation for me as well in terms of how I have evolved as a writer and a columnist.

“I from my heart share my gratitude to the Fiji Sun for making it possible not only for me but enabling readers to read and educate themselves.

“I hope my relationship with Fiji Sun grows stronger every year.”

Meanwhile, Oceanic Communications organised a Motivational Evening with Mr Kalbag, on Wednesday at the Damodar Cinema Lounge, Damodar City, to get people inspired and motivated.

Attendees were given a sneak peak of his training to start the journey of making that needed difference for their organisation.

They were also given a copy of Lead-Your-Ship Achieving Leadership Excellence.
