Fiji – Wales Test Set For November 7 In Cardiff

The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians will play Wales on November 7 in Cardiff during their Europe tour.

This was told to SUNsports yesterday by Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor.

“The Wales test match is confirmed,” he said.

O’Connor indicated that the Flying Fijians under newly appointed head coach Vern Cotter are playing three Test matches during the tour.

“At the moment we’re almost finalising the second match with the France Barbarians which is set for November 14.

‘The final Test match is on November 21 against a Tier 2 team.

“At the moment we are still having talks and we should confirm the team soon.”

O’Connor also said negotiations are ongoing for another international match for the Flying Fijians to be played on October 26 at a neutral venue.

Wales are now coached by former Flying Fijians coach Wayne Pivac. Wales played the Flying Fijians at the 2019 Rugby World Cup where they won 29-17. The Fijians last beat Wales 38-34 at the 2007 RWC in France.

Meanwhile, O’Connor has urged business houses and supporters to be at the FRU Awards Night at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva on Saturday.

“We’ll be releasing the full list of awards and nominees tomorrow,” he said.
