In light of COVID19 the Government has directed that from Sunday travel in and out of the islands will cease.

Meanwhile the Vice Commodore for the Royal Suva Yacht Club Patrick Todd has confirmed that they have plans in place.

“To my understanding we are allowed to go out fishing as long as there are not more than 20 people on board and that we don’t harbour on an island,” Mr Todd said.

He also confirmed that there were a few international yachties that were stuck here because they couldn’t travel back.

The club had posted on their Facebook page that effective from Wednesday the Bure Bar cannot exceed having 20 members at a time.

“This is to comply with the directive from the Government relating to congregations of its citizens in public spaces, venues, events and arenas,” the Facebook post said.

“At this time we ask that members not bring guests or visitors into the club in order to control the spread of this virus.

“Also all member draws have been suspended until further notice.

“Difficult times call for difficult decisions and we thank all of you for your overwhelming support to get through this tough period in time.”
