The Suva Bowling Club received two lawn mowing machines for maintenance on Friday.

The donation was made by the Royal Oak Bowling Club of New Zealand.

Suva Bowling Club president Samuela Tukiligana said they were grateful for the timely donation.

“Our trustee Gary Barnett of Geotech Drilling International Services Limited went to New Zealand and visited the bowling club in Auckland,” he said.

“Apart from giving to other countries, he managed to convince them to give the machines to us

“We are very thankful and hope the machines will help in the up keeping of the green.

“Both of the machines cost $25 – 30,000.

“There is a special mower and a roller. After the announcement from the Government on the lifting of restrictions of non-contact sports, the club has allowed members to play.

“There are few members that have come to play,” he said.

“We are only allowing two players at a time, they have their times slotted, to play for an hour. They have to book beforehand.

“All tournaments have been postponed including the South Pacific Bowling Carnival set for June 26 – July 3.”
