Sergeant Devi Awarded In Sudan
Sergeant Archana Devi was awarded the Certificate of Officer of the Month by the United Nation Mission in Dardur, Sudan.

Archana Devi is the only Fijian Police officer in Sudan to receive the prestigious medal certificate for exceptional performance by the United Nation Mission In Darfur (UNAIMD).

The 33-year-old Sergeant has been in Sudan for peacekeeping duties since December 22, 2018.

She holds the post of an Administrator to the Police Chief of Operation at the mission headquarters and was given the Certificate of Officer of the Month.

The mother of a seven-year-old child, originally from Qalewaqa in Labasa, was deployed with six other Fijian Police officers.

They are expected to return to Fiji this month.

Sergeant Devi said she felt proud and excited about her achievement.

“I am the only Fijian Police officer to receive at least one award among the 29 individual officers from all around the world conducting peacekeeping duties in Darfur,” Sergeant Devi said.

“I have been in the Fiji Police Force for 14 years and this is my biggest achievement.”

“I expected to receive this award because when I came for the mission, I set up my mind that I would leave footprints behind before heading home,” she said.

“Coming from a small country like Fiji and serving with so many other countries was not easy.

It required hard work and dedication.

“Some challenges such as during this pandemic we have been under lockdown at the camp since March.

“Moreover, being away from my son over a year and especially during this pandemic when he needs me the most.”

She thanked Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho for giving opportunities to Fijian Police officers to experience peacekeeping missions.

She also thanked her family and friends for their support during these difficult times.
