Women are being urged to be leaders in their own communities.

Gymnastics Federation of Fiji board director Tessa Eastgate made the comments at the completion of the three-day Women in Leadership workshop in Lautoka yesterday.

Hosted by the Gymnastics Federation of Fiji in conjunction with Gymnastics Australia, Oceania Gymnastics Union and the Pacific Sports Partnerships. The workshop saw 15 women from the western division attending.

Eastgate said the women were selected after being identified as potential leaders in their own communities.

“What we expect for them is to take back to the community what they have learned from the workshop,” she said.

“The objective of aero gym project is to empower women and to build the habits of fitness, health and well-being of local communities through local exercise, healthy living and eating.”

She said the workshop was a success and was grateful to the women who took part.
