Died after Fire: Fai Yen Chan.

The 37-year-old businesswoman, who died after a fire broke out at her home in Lami, has been described by her employees as a hardworking and kind woman.

Fai Yen Chan was found unconscious at her property in Lami on Tuesday night.

Yesterday, the National Fire Authority team and Police were at the scene carrying out their investigations.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the first responders applied Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to no avail.

She was pronounced dead at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

Ms Fai and her husband own Sai Yee Foods Industries Limited an export company based in Wailada, Lami.

Company manager Mohitesh Kumar said the company had lost a great soul.

They were still trying to come to terms with the tragic news of her passing.

Attempts to get comments from her husband Ken Yee who is in Australia were unsuccessful.

She is survived by her husband and two children.

Meanwhile, in Tamavua, a family of seven lost their belongings after their home was razed to the ground after a fire on Monday night.

Police and NFA are continuing investigations.
