Former national rugby prop Sekove Sadria was laid to rest at the Nasinu Cemetery on Thursday.

Sadria, 55, was accorded a full military funeral as he was a member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, his former Army team-mate Peni Baleira said they had been playing together since 1988.

“Sadria got enlisted in the RFMF in 1987,” Baleira said.

“We played together in the Suva Rugby Union’s Escott Shield competition and also for the Ratu Sukuna Bowl.

“We played for only a short time with the Suva rugby as Sadria went on to play for the national rugby team.”

Baleira said in 1996 they left the RFMF to take overseas contracts.

“Sadria got a rugby contract in New Zealand while I went to play in Australia.

“I rejoined the RFMF in 2002 while Sadria came back to join us in 2011. We not only played together but we worked together as well.

“Sadria was a quiet person but he always worked hard.

“A kind-hearted man and we really missed him very much,” he concluded.
