Top football players who have served their suspended term for using banned substance, can play for their respective districts in this weekend’s Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.

The players are veteran striker Osea Vakatalesau, Valerio Nawatu, Amani Makoe and Kini Madigi. The players were suspended from playing at all level of football in 2017.

“Most of the players have served their suspension and we’ve given them the green light to play,” he said.

“For Kini, he has served most of his term and considering that he is still young and a talented player, we have given him the okay to play.”

For the exception of 34-year-old Vakatalesau, who is to play for Nadroga in the Vodafone Senior League, the rest are expected to play at the B.O.G.

Yusuf said that Madigi would play for Suva while Nawatu is to play for Lautoka and Makoe for Rewa.

“Fiji FA in a project it’s working on are going use these players in a ‘Say No To No Drugs’ campaign,” he added.
