Five suspended Police officers who are alleged to have thrown a 32-year-old man off a bridge in Naqia, Wainibuka, have entered not guilty pleas to the charges.

Sevanaia Narogi, Kameli Tukana, Mafoa Korosaya, Inoke Nagata and Jokaveti Rabuku appeared before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza this morning.

It is alleged that on April 14 with intent to grievously harm the victim, Narogi threw him over the bridge.

On the second count of assault causing actual bodily harm, Narogi, Tukana, Korosaya and Nagata allegedly punched and kicked the victim.

Narogi and Tukana, who allegedly slapped the victim, were also charged with one count each of common assault.

Rabuku is alleged to have interfered with prosecution witnesses.

Bail for all five is extended.
