A homeowner at Tacirua Settlement is pleading with Government to put speed bumps and railings along Khalsa Road, Tacirua, to help stop drivers from speeding.

The plea comes after a Hybrid private vehicle crashed into a portion of Samu Nave’s home yesterday afternoon, before plummeting downhill.

The accident happened at around 3.20pm, involving a family of five

who were possibly returning from a family function.

It is allegedly that the driver lost control of the vehicle. It is also believed that two of the family members died on the spot. The family were believed to be residing in Namadi Heights. Three of five family members were rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) in Suva for treatment.

Mr Nave said: “I was relaxing with my family watching television when I heard the loud crashing bang.

“When we rushed out to see what the noise was, I saw a vehicle in my cassava plantation. The top of the vehicle had come off completely and I saw the victims still strapped inside.”

Mr Nave and other residents alerted the authorities soon after. Residents in the area also helped the fire rescue team remove the accident victims from the wreck.

Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua said their investigations have started.
