The Epeli Sovalevu-coached Eastern Saints are ready to take on the challenge at the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s which starts tomorrow.

This would be their first 7s outing since the team was formed by former national rep, Seremaia Bai.

The Saints are in Pool Six with Waimanu Gold, Navutu Brumbies and Yasawa.

Manager Joseva Turaganivalu said that most of these boys were members of Bai’s Rugby Academy with the youngest at 16 years.

“It is a tough and we are new to the Marist 7s compared to other teams

“We are using the platform to be better persons, better husbands and a better role models in life.

“We are to experience things that Bai did not go through, hence he formed this club.

“We know the caliber and the potential of these boys and we know they can contest, even though it is our first sevens tournament together.”

However, some of the boys have been playing 7s for other teams like Tabadamu and Sagale Baabaas.

“These boys are from Eastern schools, who played Deans Rugby as from 2015.

“To be a national rep is second, it is all about nurturing us about our life – about our future.”
