Nadi Move Up To Third Spot

The Nadi football team have claimed the third spot on the Vodafone Premier League points table after upsetting Ba 1-0 yesterday.
It was a 58th minute deflection of striker Rusiate Matererega that broke the hearts of Ba fans at the Fiji FA Academy ground in Ba.
What happened: Ba started strongly as they looked for early goals but the Nadi defence stood tall.
Ba captain Ilimotama Jese played well as he spearheaded their moves but poor finishing from their strikers let them down.
Halftime: Ba 0-0 Nadi
Nadi came out firing in the second half and dominated territory. They kept on pressuring the Ba defence.
In the 58th minute a shot from Joshua Tawake deflected of Matererega and the ball landed in the net.
Comments: Nadi team executive member Yashwant Singh said: “We will host Labasa next week and we are going for a win.
“We are targeting for the second spot but now we are in third place.
“We missed a few scoring chances in the first half but the players really tried hard.”
Ba Football Association president Reinal Kumar said: “Very disappointing result. We had the chance to win the league but now it’s out of our hands.
“We’ll take the next two games to build-up for the Fiji FACT because we definitely need to win something.”
