Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has informed the residents of Lagalaga that he would be seriously looking into cane carting and power issues in the area.

He confirmed this during the consultation programme in Lagalaga, Labasa, after residents raised their concerns about the delay of cane carting trucks. They also said a few houses hadn’t received proper electricity.

He said a staff member from the Energy Fiji Limited would be visiting the residents in the coming days to sort out their issues.

Resident, Akisi Vinaka, said farmers were going through a difficult time since they did not receive the cane carting trucks on time.

She said if this continues many farmers would fail to supply the sugar cane.

Another resident raised concerns about not having proper water supply.

The A-G said he would look into the matters and would address the water issues to the Water Authority of Fiji.
