Lekutu Secondary School Ready To Resume Classes

Tents will substitute concrete structures for learning and teachers quarters for Lekutu Secondary School in Bua.
The school was one of the 119 schools that was badly affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
The school has 16 teachers and 258 students.
School principal Avinendra Kumar said they had cordoned off the damaged school buildings.
He thanked Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for the Government’s support in ensuring they also begin school on January 18.
“We have been so badly affected but we are grateful that no lives have been lost,” Mr Kumar said.
He said they had received numerous assistance like water, textbooks and other stationeries.
Mr Bainimarama thanked UNICEF for the provision of tents.
He is on a three-day tour in the Northern Division.
The Prime Minister will visit the following schools today:
- Ratu Luke Memorial School;
- Kubulau Government Station;
- Ratu Emeri Primary School;
- Maivalili College ;
- Vunidawamoli Village; and
- Nakasa Village.
