Watui Waidroka Targets To Develop Players

The Waitui Waidroka Junior Rugby Club has started off well for 2021.
The club members had their third tournament yesterday at the St Joseph’s the Worker Primary School ground in Naulu , Nausori.
Club secretary Jone Turaganiqali said the objective was to develop future rugby players
The tournament also included girls representing their communities from as young as 12 years.
“The teams consist of six communities in Tailevu, Naitasiri and Rewa,” he said.
“They are from Sawani, Waila, Nuku, Dreketi, Daku and group of boys in the Nasinu 9 miles area.
“This club was formed after COVID-19 when we saw that students were not playing.
“So we want to thank Fiji Rugby Union for allowing coaches to be involved and at the same time undergo World Rugby Level One coaching and Strength and Conditioning Level One examinations.
“After that workshop with FRU, we decided to form the junior rugby club.
“They have already played in two festivals.
“This the first one for this year, we are planning to have it monthly. We do not want to wait for schools to begin,” he added.
