BRED Bank Boosts Football Academy

The 2021 International Youth Football Academy tournament received a major boost from BRED Bank Fiji.
The tournament was hosted at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club ground yesterday.
BRED Bank Fiji Limited chief executive officer Thierry Charras-Gillot was thrilled to be part of the fantastic event.
“BRED bank is honoured to be part of the 2021 IFYA tournament and awards night. Especially because this is for our youths who benefit greatly from sports outreach programmes,” he said.
“At BRED, we believe in working in close proximity with our customers and community. I also take this opportunity to congratulate and thank IYFA for presenting such platform for our youths.”
He added the IYFA programme allows children to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle and explore a new area of interest through football- and BRED Bank believes that maximizing IYFA’s role in this, is a cause worth supporting.
IYFA technical director and head coach Rivaz Ali said the academy was established five years ago in 2016 in Suva with just seven children.
“After five years we have 150 children. In the west, we just started last year we already have about 50 children.”
He added there are talks to grant a few players a scholarship programme in 2021. Now, we have an academy based at Sacramento in the USA, and we are trying to establish a relationship with them, as far as sending players for trials here.”
He said IYFA will be kick-starting its IYFA Champions League this year with two different categories which are Under15 and U12 which is going to be run every month.
He thanked major sponsors BRED Bank and Mobil Oil for being part of this event.
