The challenge has been laid down for all villages in Nadi with a handsome reward at the end of the battle.

Renowned Nadi company, Al Hamd Smart Living, has come up with an incentive towards pushing for the vaccination of all villages in Nadi.

Collaboration

Company managing director, Ashfaaq Khan said while the Government was doing its part in pushing the vaccination of the majority of the population, he felt this is the time for the public sector to do its part and work hand in hand with the Government.

“Our Government can only do so much in its tireless efforts and we as business people need to now show our patriotism and put our money where our mouths are,” he said.

Vaccination incentive

Al Hamd Smart Living has challenged all villages in Nadi that whichever one attains 90 percent full vaccination of its people, they will receive 10 solar street lights free.

“These street lights, which are worth close to $4000 will be installed at whichever place they want placed within the village area.

“These street lights will in turn curb crime, if any, in the village, protect everyone, show unwarranted movements and would see it safe for people to walk around at night.

“These lights also come with a movement alert sensor.”

When contacted earlier, Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong termed the incentive awesome.

“This type of innovative support by business houses is what we need at this time,” Dr Fong said.

“I commend this proactive proposal which the MOH team have been tasked to support as appropriate within our guidelines,” he added.

Dr Fong has since directed Ministry of Health personnel in Nadi to work with Mr Khan so that proper data and statistics could be collated to see if the incentive is run properly and the number of those confirmed to be vaccinated is correct.
