Surveillance footage obtained by Police shows teenager Aryan Narayan jumping off the Rewa Bridge in Nausori.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigators, after gathering witness statements and obtaining CCTV footage, have now determined the circumstances surrounding the death of 17-year-old Aryan.

“Two witnesses have come forward with items belonging to the victim allegedly found along the Rewa Bridge walkway,” she said.

“Another witness, a taxi driver, has come forward with information that he allegedly picked the victim and dropped him near a service station outlet in Nausori.

“Investigators have obtained CCTV footage from businesses located near the Rewa Bridge whereby on October 19 the victim is seen jumping off the bridge.”

Investigators have relayed their findings to the victim’s family and are now looking into the circumstances that led to the incident.

Meanwhile, an employee with the dredging company where the teenager’s body was found in the Rewa River last Thursday, said there was slight bruising on his body.

Ro Vui Kadavu said he helped police bring in the body from the river.

“His body was bloated. The only injury I saw was on his face, near his lips. Otherwise, there were no marks that I saw,” he said.

“We were told that the incoming high tide carried the body from Wainibokasi upriver.

“That is all I can say for now.”

The teenager left home on Tuesday afternoon to buy a chicken from a nearby shop. He had with him $18 in cash and his mobile phone.

Two days later his body was found floating in the Rewa River.

Shops in the vicinity of the Narayan household in Wainibokasi were visited and in every case, none of the shopkeepers met the young man that fateful day.

Aryan’s father Nitesh Chand said the officers from Nausori Police Station had been working hard.

“My family has faith in them to solve the unexplained death of our eldest child,” he said.

He referred all questions to the Fiji Police Force.
