The FijiFirst Party has moved swiftly to counter the growing presence of Sitiveni Rabuka’s People’s Alliance party in the Western Division by appointing Saunaka Chief, Marama Na Taukei Naua; Adi Tema Sovau Varo, as party President.

Nadi’s Tui Nawaka Ratu Asaeli Driu and Tui Nadi Ratu Vuniyani Navuniuci have recently pledged their allegiance to Mr Rabuka after they were seen attending the People’s Alliance launch in Nawaka Village and were subsequently included in the list of party founders.

Meanwhile, Adi Tema’s appointment was confirmed by FijiFirst yesterday as she succeeds the newly appointed Fiji President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.

Adi Tema
Adi Tema was installed in the chiefly position in Nadi four years ago.

She is married to Josefa Uluinadi and they have six children.

She started her primary education at Nadi Airport School and completed her secondary education at the Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College.

Adi Tema then went on to complete courses at the University of the South Pacific.

For her traditional leadership role she attended Nadave Centre for Appropriate Technology and Development this is an iTaukei traditional learning institution run by the iTaukei Affairs for those who undergo traditional leadership training.

Meanwhile, a villager who wishes to remain anonymous said Adi Tema was a humble and committed person.

“She usually committed herself in community work.”

“She is our young chief.”

“I believe her election as the FijiFirst President would be a good exposure for her in terms of her leadership not only in the Vanua but in the political realm.”

“We are proud of her and we wish her well.”
