Stay Away From Broken Power Lines, EFL Teams Work To Restore Power

Stay away from any fallen broken power lines.

Thats the message from Energy Fiji Limited chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel as his team work around the clock to restore power supply.

“If any member of the public sees any fallen lines, please treat it as live, and make every attempt to alert Energy Fiji Ltd on its emergency line, 913.

“All other faults and no power situations can be reported to our Contact Centre on 132333 or 5333 if calling from a mobile.”

Mr Patel said EFL teams are at work in the various locations and are systematically managing the restoration depending on the weather conditions in specific areas, receding water levels, clearance of blocked roads/bridges before power supply is restored.

“Please note that safety is paramount in our efforts to restore electricity and this could take time depending on the issues encountered in these locations.
“Anyone undertaking electrical works at any installation is kindly reminded to engage the services of registered licensed electrical contractors. EFL authorization/permits need to be obtained prior to undertaking any electrical works, and these must be inspected by
EFL Installation Inspectors to ensure proper regulatory compliance to wiring standards and best practices.”

Mr Patel reiterated that safety should be everyone’s responsibility, compromising safety could lead to personal injuries and/or fatality.

EFL urges all licensed electrical contractors to be vigilant and cautious when carrying out any work on customer service mains, intermediate support poles at elevated heights and to use and wear all necessary protective clothing and equipment.

Tropical Depression (TDF03) which later development into Tropical Cyclone Cody has brought about some damages to the EFL infrastructure especially in Western Viti Levu, and some parts of the Central Viti Levu.
