32 Classic Buses Damaged Due to Flood

Thirty-two Classic Buses were damaged at the company’s Nadi yard, as a result of heavy rain and flooding.
Classic Busses Limited Director Operations West Adnan Mohammed confirmed this.
“Thirty-two buses were in Nadi yard and was in water, this is a big cost burden on us during these hard times. We are not servicing routes in Nadi due to the flooding which has impacted us,” he said
“All buses were in three feet of water and damage is just with electrical issues and servicing needs to be done, which our team is currently doing; all should be ready by this weekend.”
He said that Classic Buses Limited has 140 buses which operate public routes from Sigatoka to Ba with most of its routes in rural communities. They also have 94 school trips daily.
“We will resume service in a few days when all buses are ready. A lot of damage has been done to the buses and our workshop,” he said.
He said while staff arrived to clean up the yard and offices on Tuesday, some had to return home after a power outage.
“Water has gone down last night and everything is in a mess; our staff have started to clean the office, workshop and service the buses,” he said.
