Singapore Play Pearls To Lift Performance

Playing against the Fijian Pearls will help lift Singapore netters’ performance, says their national head coach Annette Bishop.
Bishop arrive into the country on Saturday with their 15-member squad to play five training matches against the three Fijian national sides over a week.
This is to help them prepare for the Asian Netball Championships which is a World Cup qualifier tournament they will be hosting in September.
Bishop said: “Preparations have been progressing well since gaining valuable learnings from the recent PacificAus Series in Sydney.
“This trip provides one of two important training blocks in preparation for the Asian Netball Championships on September 3-11 hosted by Netball Singapore. The top two Asian teams will qualify for the 2023 World Netball Cup,” she said.
“Netball Singapore would like to expose all 15 players on this tour in a different environment to further develop specific on-court strategies and trial different combinations.
“Singapore chose Fiji for the training games as the Pearls have always provided the platform to raise their game and expose their players to tough competition against one of the top netball nations,” she added.
Netball Fiji CEO, Vivian Koster said also this training match series will help the Fijian Pearls with their preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers, where they is aim to finish on top.
“It also provides further opportunities for the Fiji men’s team and the Under-21 squad,” Koster said.
The training matches begin on Monday, May 30 at 6:30pm at the Vodafone Arena, Suva.
“Netball Fiji acknowledge Netball Singapore for choosing Fiji for their training matches.”
Meanwhile, the Oceania Netball World Cup Qualifiers (ONWCQ) will be held here from July 16-23.
