Nadi Keeps Low Profile

The Jack’s Nadi rugby team is not carried away with their 32-31 win over Naitasiri, last month.
The team is coming in prepared for Saturday’s double-header clash against the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother Trophy holders, Naitasiri, at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park. Nadi has lost one game so far in the Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship.
Speaking to SUNsports, Nadi assistant forwards coach John Jackson said there was still lots of work to be done leading up to the challenge.
“We are happy with the performance of our boys so far,” he said.
“But we have some work to do to get the job done. The result will come after the full 80 minutes.”
Last week, the Nadi rugby side was playing warm-up matches against the Fijian Under-20 team.
Johnson indicated that playing in front of the home crowd was always an advantage to the host team.
“Naitasiri is not an easy team. We just saw the game the other week, they came back strong in the second half. We have to prepare well for that because we will be coming to their home ground and we will have to work very hard. We’re hoping for the best but we will come as underdog. The boys have to dig deep.”
Johnson reiterated the need to stay focused throughout the game.
“We have to play the full 80 minutes, 85 or up to 90 minutes. We can’t lose concentration, especially in the second half.”
In other Skipper matches, Nadroga hosts Namosi at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka; Northland takes on Tailevu at Gatward Park, Korovou; while Suva faces Rewa at the ANZ Stadium, Suva. The senior men’s matches kick off at 3pm.
