State lawyer, Prenika Lata, told the High Court in Lautoka that investigators were still searching for a watch belonging to murder convict, Mohammed Isoof. Isoof was charged and convicted of five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He is serving life imprisonment at the Natabua Corrections Centre. His sentence was handed down on January 21 at the High Court in Lautoka.

He is now appealing his conviction. On April 13, Isoof filed an application for the release of his personal belongings which included a watch, mobile phone and his wallet.

The matter was heard before Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza and lawyer, Iqbal Khan represented Isoof. Ms Lata told the court that the matter was a Nadi case with a lot of officers from Nadi, Namaka and Lautoka involved.

The court heard that the only items that could be released were Isoof’s iPad, mobile phone and the watch that investigators were still searching for.

Justice Hamza advised Ms Lata she had two weeks to resolve the issue and adjourned the matter to August 25 for mention.
