Sails @ Denarau Invests In Community

Sails @ Denarau made a commitment to invest within the communities it operates in. Managing Director Jason Raj, said together with the aim of sustainable procurement in its supply chain, Sails has committed to contribute positively to communities it source supplies from by developing partnerships which created both economic and lifestyle value.
Demonstrated by its recent partnership with the Natawa Village on Waya Island, Sails provided improved options to access a General Practitioner (GP) for general health care.
Dr Anareta Mudunasoko and medical assistant Alumita Wheeler visited the Island on August 6 and were welcomed by village head man Jone Sau.
More than fifty villagers were present for general health check-ups. Services include weight and height records, blood pressure reading and sugar level checks.
Many villagers had not visited a medical practitioner for more than a year and some for more than two years because of financial difficulties.
Many were also unaware that they were suffering from high blood pressure (some in the hypertension range) or diabetes.
“We are confident that the increased economic and commercial benefits derived because of the commercial partnership will empower the villagers to invest in better health care options for themselves and their families,” said Mr Raj.
Dr Mudunasoko will return in eight weeks’ for a follow-up review. Sails, through its related entities JR Group and Prime Time Business Solutions, will be implementing an e-doctor service.
Dr Mudunasoko will be available for general consultations to ensure that the villagers have access to continued healthcare via video or phone consultation.
“We are confident that this programme will add significant value to the people at Natawa Village. We are committed to leave a sustainable, value creating footprint within the community through many similar programmes in the pipeline,” Mr Raj added.
