Rooster Chicken Fijiana XVs first opponent at the Women’s Rugby World Cup England has named a strong squad with the intention to win the tournament.

“We’ve got to win it. That doesn’t mean we will,” said England’s coach, Simon Middleton.

“You look at Argentina (men) beating New Zealand (All Blacks) for the first time, you look at Andy Ruiz knocking Anthony Joshua out.

“Everybody has a chance in sport. But what you’ve got to do is prepare your very best and try and deliver your best performance when it matters.”

England has won a record 25 Tests in a row, and is ranked the number one side in the world and favourites to win the title.

Also in the squad are 20-year-old forwards Sadia Kabeya and Morwenna Talling as they target to continue their winning Test run in their Pool C World Cup opener against Fijiana at Eden Park, Auckland, on October 8.

Flanker Kabeya has beaten 2014 World Cup winner Vicky Fleetwood to a place in the squad, with Sarah Beckett another back row player left out.

As expected, Sarah Hunter will continue as England captain as she makes her fourth World Cup appearance along with centre Emily Scarratt – two of six world champions in the group.

The other teams in Pool C are France and South Africa.

The match kicks off at 3.45pm.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana XVs are fielding their World Cup players in tomorrow night’s clash against Canada at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The Fijian Sevens players of captain Rusila Nagasau, Aloesi Nakoci, Lavena Cavuru, Ana Maria Naimasi and Sesenieli Donu have joined the XVs squad.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive John O’Connor has urged fans to support the Fijiana XVs in their Test clash against Canada.
