The Natabua High School (NHS) Under-18 rugby side is faced with a mammoth task of trying to contain defending Vodafone Deans Trophy champions Queen Victoria School in tomorrow’s quarterfinal at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

NHS U18 coach, Raikiwasa Loanakadavu said their focus has been on their defence but at the same time they are fine tuning their attacks.

“We’re just working on the weaknesses that we had from the previous games and we are trying to improve from there,” Loanakadavu said.

“We are working to improve on this for our quarterfinal game against QVS.

“We need to improve from our previous game and do everything right in terms of our attack and defence. I hope everything’s well during game day.”

The NHS U18 side is captained by Tomasi Tuitatava.

The Lautoka-based school is still reeling from their 16-13 loss to Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute in the Western Zone final at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

They fought back after trailing 13-0 to hold Ba Pro 13-13 at full-time but a penalty during sudden death resulted in them coming out second best.

In their last encounter in 2019, QVS came out 8-5 victors.

NHS over the years has produced top rugby players like Iliesa Tanivula, Vilimoni Botitu, Meli Derenalagi, Kitione Kamikamica, Batinisavu Uluiyata, Inia Tabuavou, Semi Valemei and the list goes on.

NHS will take on QVS at 11:20am in the second quaterfinal match.Capture
