Suva hopes to end its seven-year drought at the 67th Courts Interdistrict Championship at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva from October 5-10.

Suva last won the IDC in 2014.

Suva Football president Ritesh Pratap said the capital city side would be marching into camp coming Monday as some of the players are on national duties. The players include captain Akuila Mateisuva and Remueru Tekiate.

There are four players in the Digicel Bula Boys team playing at the Melanesia Spearhead Group Prime Minister’s Cup in Vanuatu while Peniasi Rotidara and Samuela Navoce are members of the Junior Bula Boys that would be returning from Tahiti on Sunday.

Pratap said hosting the IDC at Suva’s home ground would not be easy.

“Our main goal at the moment is to win,” Pratap said.

“When we won in 2014, it was at our home ground – at the national stadium; so we want to win this again at home.”

Suva is in Pool A with Navua, Nadroga and Nadi while Pool B has defending champions Labasa, Digicel Premier League winners Rewa, Lautoka and Ba.

“Both pools are equally matched,” he said.

“We can’t underestimate any team. If you look at the Battle of Giants and Fiji FACT; Nadroga was in our pool and we drew with them.

“Even Navua defeated Lautoka in the BOG. I think they are good.”

The IDC will feature teams from the three divisions: super premier, premier and senior.

The super premier winner will walk away with $25,000 while the runners-up will pick up $6000. In the premier division, the winner gets $6000 while $2000 will be given to the runners up; $3500 will be given for the senior division winner and $1500 to the runners up.
