Fiji Secondary Secondary Schools Inter-district Championship’s top goal scorer Jioji Temesia is hopeful of playing for Ba at the Courts Interdistrict Championship that gets underway at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, tomorrow.

The Tunuloa, Cakaudrove, native scored five goals for Xavier College to receive the Golden Boot Award at the Secondary Schools IDC at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

Temesia scored Xavier College’s goal in their 1-0 win over Labasa Muslim College in the final, last Friday.

The 18-year-old has been playing for the Ba Youth team before he was included in the Ba senior football side.

“I was a member of the Ba senior team’s 22-member squad during the Battle of the Giants tournament in Lautoka but I was on full time reserve.

“I had a great outing during the secondary schools competition where I scored five goals and it was great achievement.”

Temesia said playing for Ba at the IDC would be a big challenge.

“It will also be interesting since Ba has won the IDC title for the most number of times compared to any other team in the country.

“If I am given a chance to play, I will give my best shot.”

Temesia, said his love with football began at Ba Andhra Primary School.

He is the cousin of former Fiji and Lautoka star defender Antonio Tuivuna.

“I’ve been following him (Tuivuna) since I was a small kid.

“He has shared his football knowledge with me regarding how to play the game,” he said.

Temesia said he also admires Ba utility player, Saula Waqanicakau, who started playing as a goalkeeper and later made his mark as a striker.
