Rookie prop Josese Batirerega scored the try that matters for the Fiji Airways Fijian men’s rugby sevens side as they beat France 19-12 to top Pool D of the Sydney Sevens tournament this afternoon.
The Fijians are expected to meet either Great Britain or Argentina in tonight’s quarters.
The Waisea Nacuqu captained-side fought back from a 7-0 deficit to score two converted tries to Vuniawa Naduvalo and Nacuqu to lead 14-7 at halftime.
They held a slender 14-12 lead before Batirerega scored his try.
