Sugar Refinery Setup Plans In The Pipeline

The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, says a plan to set up a refinery in Fiji to convert raw sugar into white sugar is currently in the pipeline.

The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, says a plan to set up a refinery in Fiji to convert raw sugar into white sugar is currently in the pipeline.

Mr Singh made this comment while speaking to growers at the Vunikavikaloa Arya School in Rakiraki on Thursday.

He said Fiji was currently importing white sugar from abroad.

Mr Sing said with the plans of setting up a refinery, it could better the price of sugar for all Fijians.

“Overall our sugar is selling at a very low price.”
