Memories of Tropical Cy­clone Ana on January 31, 2020, flashed back when Labasa Town was inundated with flood water on Friday.

Heavy rain started around 10am, then continued for hours, filled the drains.

Within two hours most drains got blocked, forcing the water to over­flow and enter many shops.

Many people panicked and rushed from work to go home only to be confronted with a traffic jam.

Business people complained that the flash flood was caused by blocked drains.

Labasa Town Council

Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Satish Ku­mar, who operates a few shops in Labasa Town, said he was shocked to witness the flash flood.
