Manueli Lagilagi Qiolevu is the Sous Chef at Toberua Island Resort. When he was younger, he learnt pastry skills from his late aunt Elesi Qiolevu. It inspired him to work towards fulfilling his dream job.

Mr Qiolevu started as a kitchen hand, and acquired skills through in-house training.

Executive chef, Malakai Lutumailagi was a key mentor and would guide Mr Qiolevu.

In November 2016, Mr Qiolevu took up the position of sous chef in Samoa where he spent six years in three different hotels, before returning to Toberua last June, to take over the reighns from Mr Lutumailagi.

Where in Fiji have you been to?

I have been around Viti Levu, Savusavu and Taveuni.

Where’s your favourite place for coffee?

Di Bella at the entrance of MHCC, Suva.

 

Where in Fiji would you take visitors to?

Taveuni, the untouched paradise.

What’s your backyard sport?

I love to go to the gym to train as I spend around 9-10 hours standing in the kitchen. On my days off I would spend time with my family or take long walks on the beach to destress.

Where in Fiji is on your bucket list?

I would love to visit the Yasawas. Toberua Island Resort Sous chef, Manueli Qiolevu
