Residents Thank Bus Companies For Safe Services During Flood

Residents form various settlements in Labasa, who faced sudden flash floods and commuters going to work, thanked bus companies for providing services.
Tovata Korowiri resident, Rakeshma Mishra, was surprised at the level of flood waters covering the road.
“I thought the rain would subside as it normally does, but this flash flooding was a surprise,” he said.
Another resident, Shamal Chand, had to take an early break to return home because their community road always got flooded.
Mr Chand said they were fortunate that bus services continued and that he had safely reached home.
He advised parents to keep close of their children because the current of floodwaters could sweep them away.
Wailevu Solove resident, Vinita Reddy, was fortunate to have returned home after travelling to town for shopping. Ms Reddy said the scene of Labasa Town was like an ocean of water and claimed the municipality’s drainage issues must be solved.
