PM Rabuka: Secular State & Fijian Identity Will Be Changed

PM Rabuka: Secular State & Fijian Identity Will Be Changed

The coalition Government will change the common reference “Fijians” and “secular state”, but only through a referendum.

The statement was made by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka during an interview at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Suva.

Section 4 (1) of the 2013 Constitution outlines that all citizens of Fiji are to be known as Fijians with equal status and identity.

“I would like to go through a referendum on that,” Mr Rabuka said.
