Athletics Fiji is working with Striders Athletics Club and Suva Marathon Club to revive middle and long distance running in the country.

Nine athletes from Fiji will be participating in the 2023 World Cross Country Championships (WCCC), in Bathurst, NSW Australia on February 18. Fiji used to be the Pacific’s powerhouse in middle and long distance running in the 1960s and the 2000s decades.

There were champions runners like Usaia Sotutu, Viliame Saulekaleka, Joe Rodan Snr, Shiri Chand ‘Mushroom’, Rick Kermode, Ilimo Daku, Make Liku, Salome Tabuatalei, Donna Cavuilati, Sireli Nakeleka and the list goes on.
