Ratu Kadavulevu School student Jale Raikatalau created history today at the 2023 Coke Games at the HFC Bank Stadium.

He was the first athlete from the sub junior division to be awarded the overall boys best athlete which was usually awarded to the senior boys division.

Raikatalau won three gold in the 800m, 1500 and 4X 400 metres relay.

He set a new record of 4:43.11 in the 1500m on Day One which earned him the title.

The Sawakasa, Tailevu native only wished his former coach Moape Vu would be around to see his achievement.

With a black arm band, he dedicated his medals to Vu who passed away early this year.

“I would like to thank God for the talent he has given me,” he said.

“This was my first Coke Games and I came here with no expectation to win gold.”

His father Senitiki Tikomainaqeletabu who is also an RKSOB could not be more proud of his son’s achievement.

“Winning three gold medals on his first Coke Games is something that we will always be proud of,” Tikomainaqeletabu said.

“He had prepared well for his events, he has been training during the off season period.

“I would guide him in his training during the school break. I’ll be on the bicycle while he runs on the road.

“Well deserved because he had done the hard yards.”

Raikatalau received a trophy, $1000 from Coca Cola and $100 from FM 96 and Viti FM.
