Fiji Heading To ‘A New Beginning’

University of Canterbury Pro-Vice Chancellor Pacific Professor Steven Ratuva says recent national events happening in the country including the return of the Great Council Chiefs (GCC) spell a new dawn in Fiji.
He said the celebrations at the GCC meeting last week, the Girmit Day and Ratu Sukuna Day should be seen in the context of creating a sense of national unity.
“This is important for national stability, security, resilience and sustainability,” Professor Ratuva said.
He trusted in the ability of highly professional review team of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) in making the council adaptable and resilient in the face of the changing modern world.
The review team is chaired my Dr Jone Baledrokadroka.
He said the GCC meeting on Bau Island was symbolic of a new beginning after 16 years.
